The Telepath War was a war between Human telepaths. Humans are the only species which fear their teeps. Minbari telepaths are revered.

The G'KLar quote comes from Season One. Catherine Saki comes back from a surveying job where here ship loses all power after coming in contact with one of the First Ones at Sigma 957 (I think that is the correct planet)

When she returns, Saki asks G'Kar why and he says because her loss would cause Sinclair undue pain with for no real reason so why not. Then he tells her that no one on Babylon 5 is quite what they seem and launches into comparing Humans and Narns to ants in the eyes of the Walkers.

It was a cool scene.

G'Kar did not have all that large of a roll in the film, I actually thought that he was not needed. (shrugs) I had no real problesm with his portrayal, although I know others did.

Fan, G'Kar's statement about no-one being what they seem is an echo of his advice to someone (I can't remember who or when) very early on in the B5 series, isn't it?

Imagine my surprise when I got to Slashdot and found that the current poll is about Legend of the Rangers! I placed my vote and read a few of the posts. I'll get back to it tomorrow when my eyes are functioning properly. (That's what I get for forgetting my allergy meds today.)

Storyline as a whole was a good one. It is a good setup for THE upcoming series. Dont forget, the hand is still stuck in...er...Thirdspace? Are these the same aliens that the Vorlons almost unleashed in the past? "So many mistakes" ...to quote Lyta under the Vorlon programming. Hmmmm Don't forget, the Vorlons encountered a race in Thirdspace, they didnt put them there. By the Gods..I have so many questions regarding this omnipetent race. Billion(s) of years ago? They were here when the Vorlons and Shadows were infants? What about Lorien? He was supposed to e here FIRST. Is this race a very bad "First Ones" race? Perhaps it was a first ones race that expelled The Hand. There is LOTS of speculation to discuss on this one.

As for G'Kar...wel...yeah, I expected a little bit of arrogant levity on his part and got it, but that kiss kiss part was a quote from Ivonova, no? Part of her Boom chaka laka laka scene (sex). G'Kar quoted a few people from the original series. He quotes Mollari. "Every one is not who he seems, who is", in regards to B5. In all, I liked G'kars pewrformance. Dont forget , he did spend a few years seeing many amazing things out there with Lyta. Give it a chance I say. You cant have a B5 Cannon G'Kar when we dont know what happened to him in those years that may have prgessed his outlook and attitude on life.

The Newbies: Well, I liked the new Narn and Drazi Rangers. It was obvious to me that they were used as set up for the upcoming series. The drazi may not be eloquent, but he did know where all the high powered conduits intersected. Cant be dumb and a Ranger. It don't mix.

The Captain: I liked him. I hate to say this...but it was just an observation and MHO, but I was imagining him as being a young Sheridan. I say this not because of what G;Kar said toi the High Council (That was the High council of the AnLaShok(sp?) , right? Not the Gray Council. He looked like him. Maybe the same manerisms.

First officer: They weren't hallucinations. They were bothered souls from the last crew and he is sensitive to them. I guess, almost like the soul hunters. Anyway, I wasn't quite sure why they were there. They were suffocating. why? Was there some kind of weapon that the Hand used to do this to them? I still dont understand what happened to them. Anybody?

Weapons specialist. OK, well...I like the character and she has great potential. As for the weapons system. I said I like the special affects and I do. I thought they were awsome. When I see the pissed off scene where she threw everything she had at them, I saw martial arts scenes for the teens. I don't know, just seemed a bit hokey. I mean, if she can do that, they could could slam other ships just as fast instead of the single shots she was doing at the Handsa ships. They gotta work on that. Also, I suspect the since that ship is 20 earth years old, that this type of weapons system may not be used anymore. Can only way to see in the new series. (Yes, Im being optimistic).

How about the ship: VALEN. That was a funky Earth Force design. Obviously the Minbari think it is not aestheticaly pleasing. Personaly, I would have thought it still would have had a more flowing design.

Back to the Liandra... Well, It is a ship that has personality already. Could be fun.

As to the Hands ships...from what I saw, they had some kind of liquid or organic technology also. They were almost a cross between what a shadow ship might look like and a ship from Earth final conflict that the Jeridians might buil. Funky , to be sure. Love the mine field system. Very nasty. Those ships are supposed to be like toys compared to what the Hand could have. Hmmmm.

I don't think I noticed this when I was watching the movie (too busy zapping commercials to pay attention properly), but the Minbari should be VERY, VERY upset about the souls trapped on the Liandra. Were they?

Don't the Minbari believe that when you die your soul rejoins the soul form of your entire race so that your race can absorb what your soul learned in that lifetime? I think that is what I am remembering from a conversation that Sinclair had with a few Minbari in the book, "To Dream in the City of Sorrows."

For a bunch of souls to get trapped on the ship and not join their soul form and get reborn would be a major problem in a Minbari Universe. After all, if it can happen once, how do they know it doesn't happen a lot. Those souls aren't trapped the way they would be in a Soul Hunter's bubble. Why can't they just take off now?

This could lead to some very cool Minbari ritual stuff. Do they have an exorcism ritual for trapped souls? When Delenn was given the Soul Hunter's collection, she just broke them one at a time and released the souls. At least, that is what I thought she did. It didn't seem to take much to let them free.

Anyone else have any comments on this? How upset were the Minbari with the idea of the trapped souls?

I think the weapons system looks very exhausting, but not entirely impossible. They just need to adjust it to be more sensitive to smaller movements.

The advantage isn't the fact that you punch or kick to fire, it is that you know exactly where the limits of the ship are because they become the same as the limits of your body. My impression is that as long as she can sense that something won't hit her, it won't hit the ship. (Question: Does she control the manuvering jets by flinching?) You can assess the danger to the ship with the exact same instinct you use to avoid walking into people on the sidewalk. I would love to be able to have that good a sense of the outside of my car when I am trying to park.

I knew the telepath war was an inter human war but I phrased my question haphazardly. I just got the impression that Dulann's powers were not really known by most of the rest of the (human) crew &, even though the Rangers are highly trained & disciplined, thought perhaps it may stir up trouble down the road.

My take on the ghost crew of the Liandra was that they remained behind to haunt the Liandra for the specific purpose of warning the Alliance. Another thought was that people having died a tragic death such as the Liandra ghosts had, are often portrayed to haunt & relive the event, being caught on that plane of existence. That they were caught there by some means or device of the Hand is an interesting thought though. Maybe the Soul Hunters learned their trade from the Hand, somehow, being able to manipulate souls.

It was portrayed as a normal haunting in human terms. But the Minbari would/should have been very upset indeed if souls were trapped there for any reason.

And they weren't. Could be a continuity issue, but I'm sure JMS will have some BS to explain it away as logical.

I know where the quote comes from. I remember the episode. It made sense when G'Kar said it the first time, and was a hint of revelations and developments to come. In LoTR, when the comment, "But then again, who is?" was added it made it a truism.

LOL Wizz!

If you'll recall, Crash, that there was a scene where you actually saw the computer getting its targeting from Sarahs eye movement. The only real thing I didnt like was the ovwerboard rapid fire scene. Seemed too much like soemthing you see in Tomb Raider or something. Perhaps that is the look JMS wanted. Lure in the younger B5 croud. Also, why didn't she do a rapid fire on the Hands ships instead of the one up its engines. May have had a better effect, although the weapons power was only at 10% at the time.

Does anyone remember what power lever the weapons had when she was rapid firing the mine field?
